Me on the traverse with the Mt. Olympus massif behind, Aug-1989
In August 1989, Jeanne Gengler, Steve Mason, and I did the Bailey Traverse. It's less well known than
the Ptarmigan Traverse and is in the northern part of the Olympic Mountains in Washington state. It's
more cross-country side-hilling rather than glacier crossing. It was quite rugged. We climbed Mount Carrie,
Mount Ferry, Snagtooth, and Ludden Peak and exited to the Elwha River by crossing the top of
Dodger Point.
