This page provides access to scanned images of the family photo albums that my father, James L. Blilie

created from 1958 through around the year 2000. most are black and white photos that he shot

and developed and printed himself.

For now, for the most part, I am just scanning the prints in the albums and presenting them here, with labels.

Eventually, I hope to replace these images with new ones, scanned from the original negatives, which I have.

Since there are 6 loose-leaf notebooks of negatives, this is going to be a long-term retirement project!

Charles L. Blilie's recollections of our trip through the South (Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, etc., including

visiting Loraine and Alex Polanek in New Jersey):

I remember visiting the McKenneys in 1967 very well. It's where I learned how to shinny up a pole. Hard to

believe that was 55 years ago!

The first day of the trip I recall we stayed with Lorraine and Alex in New Jersey. (I had trouble sleeping that

night because it was so hot, and of course their house had no air conditioning.)

The second day we drove through Washington DC and stopped at some Civil War battlefield. Then we stayed

at a motel in Roanoke, VA. I remember we got there pretty late and it was raining.

The third day I think we drove the rest of the way to Jackson. We visited the Spences and McKenneys on the

way back home. We also visited Mom's cousins in Knoxville TN, but I can't recall whether that was on the

way down or the way back.

One thing I remember from that trip is that we ate at fast food restaurants a lot (just the kind of thing an 8 year old

would remember).
