In August 1949, my friend Jack (John Edward) Anderson and I (James L. Blilie) spent two weeks

canoeing in the Superior -- Quetico wilderness area.  As the name implies, part of this area is in the

Superior National Forest of Minnesota and part in the Quetico Provincial Park of Ontario, Canada.

Jack goes out to catch us a fish or two for lunch or supper.  Fishing was so good that we could wait until a short time before mealtime to set out after them! Clouds starting to build up.  But we had no severe weather or heavy rain in the entire two weeks.  The start of a portage Pulling up on an island to make camp for the night
