This year was a brief visit, packed with activity. Phyllis stayed in MN and worked on projects there.
Jamie and I came to White Salmon, intent on spending more time hiking than in 2013. We did, by the end
of the week, Jamie was full-up with hiking.
In addition, I completed tearing down the second shed (and our neighbor Bruce removed all the material,
bless you Bruce!) I also cleaned out the shop building, filling the roll-off dumpster. The shop is mostly
empty now. I also hired a tree service (Columbia Tree Service in Hood River) to finally trim the limbs
off the Doug firs around the barn. We can see Mt. Adams from the front deck now! I also made a blitz
trip to my wood supplier, Pacific Rim, in Concrete WA. (680 miles, started at 4:50 am and was back
at 5:30 pm, in time for a BBQ supper! Thanks very much to Ben, Gaye, Cara, and Steve for looking
after our boy while I did the big drive.)
We got to see Jeanne, Steve, Anne, Ben, Gaye, Cara, Kevin, and Anna and I finally got to meet our
neighbor Henry Balsiger (aka Hank).
They were also performing helicopter logging in Major Creek the whole time we were there. I got
a few good photos of the helicopter.
We had perfect weather and a great time. The only thing missing was Phyllis; but we spoke to her on
the phone every morning.
